How to integrate MailerPress with FluentCart

Connect FluentCart to MailerPress to add a newsletter checkbox to your checkout, let customers manage their subscriptions from the FluentCart customer portal, and start automations from orders, payments and subscriptions.

This integration requires MailerPress Pro 2.1.0 or later and an active FluentCart plugin.

Open the FluentCart settings

  1. Go to MailerPress > Integrations.
  2. Open the Third-party extensions tab. Click E-commerce to show only the store integrations.
  3. On the Fluent Cart card, click Configure.

The settings have two tabs, Checkout and My Account. The Save button saves both. If FluentCart isn’t active, the page shows Fluent Cart is not installed or activated.

Add a newsletter checkbox to the checkout

In the Checkout tab:

  1. Check Enable checkout opt-in checkbox.
  2. In Subscribe text, enter the text shown next to the checkbox. The default text is “I would like to receive exclusive emails with discounts and product information.”
  3. In Assign Lists and Assign Tags, choose the lists and tags to give to customers who tick the box (tags are labels used to group contacts).
  4. Click Save.

The checkbox appears above the billing fields. It is unchecked by default, so only customers who tick it are subscribed.

MailerPress adds the contact when FluentCart creates the order, at checkout and before the payment is processed. The contact gets the customer’s email address, first name and last name, plus the lists and tags you selected. If you don’t select any list, MailerPress uses your default list. If sign-up confirmation (double opt-in) is enabled, a new contact stays Pending until they click the link in the confirmation email.

Copy FluentCart data to contact fields

  1. Under Custom Field Mapping, click Add Mapping.
  2. Choose a Fluent Cart Field: Email, First Name, Last Name, Phone, Billing Address Line 1, Billing City, Billing State, Billing Postal Code or Billing Country.
  3. Choose the MailerPress Custom Field that stores it, then click Save.

Mappings apply only to customers who tick the checkbox, and empty values are skipped. To create custom fields, see Manage Your Contact Fields.

Add a newsletter tab to the customer portal

In the My Account tab, turn on Enable Customer Portal tab. Logged-in customers get a new portal tab where they can subscribe to or unsubscribe from your lists.

SettingDescription
Endpoint SlugLast part of the tab’s web address. The default newsletters creates /customer-portal/newsletters/.
Menu TitleName of the tab in the portal menu. Default: Newsletters.
Page HeadingOptional heading at the top of the tab.
Page DescriptionOptional text below the heading.
Show Name FieldsShows first name and last name fields in the form.
Filter ListsLists the customer can manage. Leave empty to show all lists.
Form TitleOptional title of the subscription form. If you set a Page Heading and leave this empty, the form title is hidden.
Button TextText of the save button.
Success MessageMessage shown after the preferences are saved.
Error MessageMessage shown if saving fails.

Start automations from FluentCart events

When FluentCart is active, the automation editor shows FluentCart triggers (events that start an automation), labeled Fluent Cart. They work for every order, whether or not the customer ticked the newsletter checkbox. To build an automation, see Create Automated Email Workflows with MailerPress Pro.

TriggerStarts when
Order CreatedA new order is placed, at checkout and before payment is processed. Optional filters: Order Status and Payment Status. Leave them on Any order status and Any payment status to accept every order.
Order PaidThe payment of an order is completed. Use it for order confirmations and post-purchase sequences.
Order RefundedAn order is refunded. Use Refund Type to choose Any refund, Full refund or Partial refund.
Payment FailedThe payment of an order fails.
Subscription Activated, Subscription Renewed, Subscription Canceled, Subscription ExpiredA subscription is activated, renewed, canceled, or expires at the end of its term.

To stop or measure a sequence when the contact buys, add the Order received (FluentCart) or Order paid (FluentCart) goal (a step that waits for the purchase or just records it). See Goals and benchmarks in automations and the automation triggers and actions reference.
