Connect SureCart to MailerPress to add a newsletter checkbox to your checkout, copy customer data into contact fields, and start automations when customers buy.
This integration requires MailerPress Pro 2.1.0 or later and an active SureCart plugin.
Open the SureCart settings
- Go to MailerPress > Integrations.
- Open the Third-party extensions tab. Click E-commerce to show only the store integrations.
- On the SureCart card, click Configure.
If SureCart isn’t active, the page shows SureCart is not installed or activated instead of the settings.
Add a newsletter checkbox to the checkout
- Check Enable checkout opt-in checkbox.
- In Subscribe text, enter the text shown next to the checkbox. The default text is “I would like to receive exclusive emails with discounts and product information.”
- In Assign Lists and Assign Tags, choose the lists and tags to give to customers who tick the box (tags are labels used to group contacts).
- Click Save.
The checkbox appears in every SureCart checkout form, right below the email field. If a form has no email field, it appears before the order button. It is unchecked by default, so only customers who tick it are subscribed.
What happens after checkout
When SureCart confirms the checkout and the box is ticked, MailerPress creates the contact, or updates it if the email address already exists:
- The contact gets the customer’s email address, first name and last name. If SureCart only has a full name, MailerPress splits it into first and last name.
- The contact is added to the lists and tags you selected. If you don’t select any list, MailerPress uses your default list.
- If sign-up confirmation (double opt-in) is enabled, a new contact stays Pending until they click the link in the confirmation email. Otherwise, the contact is Subscribed right away.
Copy SureCart data to contact fields
Under Custom Field Mapping, store checkout data in contact fields. Create the custom fields first if needed (see Manage Your Contact Fields).
- Click Add Mapping.
- In SureCart Field, choose the checkout value to copy: Email, First Name, Last Name, Full Name, Phone, Billing Address Line 1, Billing City, Billing State, Billing Postal Code or Billing Country.
- In MailerPress Custom Field, choose where to store it: First Name, Last Name or one of your custom fields.
- Repeat for each field, then click Save. Use Remove to delete a mapping.
Mappings apply only to customers who tick the newsletter checkbox, and empty values are skipped.
Start automations from SureCart events
When SureCart is active, the automation editor shows SureCart triggers (events that start an automation), conditions and goals, labeled SureCart. They work for every SureCart purchase, whether or not the customer ticked the newsletter checkbox. To build an automation, see Create Automated Email Workflows with MailerPress Pro.
| Trigger | Starts when |
|---|---|
| Order Created | A new purchase is created in SureCart. Use it for thank-you emails or post-purchase sequences. |
| Purchase Revoked | A purchase is revoked in SureCart: an order item is refunded, or a subscription is canceled or expires. Use it for cancellation confirmations or retention offers. |
A Condition step sends contacts down different paths depending on a rule. Its SureCart fields are Total Spent, Order Count, Last Order Status, Has Purchased Product and Order Created. For example, you can send a different email to customers who spent more than a given amount.
To stop or measure a sequence when the contact buys, add the Order received (SureCart) goal (a step that waits for the purchase or just records it). See Goals and benchmarks in automations and the automation triggers and actions reference.
