Kadence Blocks Advanced Forms can add or update a MailerPress contact each time a visitor submits the form. You choose the lists and tags, match the email, name and custom fields, and decide whether a consent checkbox is required. Use it for newsletter forms, or for contact forms where subscribing is optional.
This integration requires MailerPress Pro 2.1.0 or later. The free version of Kadence Blocks is enough: it includes the Advanced Form block.
Before you start
- Create at least one list in MailerPress > Audience, or make sure a default list exists. See Manage Your Contact List.
- Add an Email field to your Kadence form. Only this field type can be used as the contact’s email.
- The MailerPress settings only appear for users who can edit Kadence forms and manage MailerPress contacts. See MailerPress capabilities.
Add the MailerPress action to your form
- Edit your Kadence Advanced Form and select the form block.
- In the block settings, open Submit Actions and add MailerPress (“Add or update a contact in MailerPress.”). You can keep other actions, such as the email notification.
- A MailerPress panel appears in the block settings. If it says “Save or select the Kadence form before configuring MailerPress.”, save the form first.
- Set the options from the table below, then save the form.
MailerPress panel options
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Lists | Lists the contact joins. Leave empty to use the default MailerPress list. Hold Ctrl or Command to select several. |
| Tags | Optional tags (labels to sort contacts) added to the contact. Hold Ctrl or Command to select several. |
| Email field | Required. The Email field of your form. |
| First name field | Optional. The form field saved as the first name. |
| Last name field | Optional. The form field saved as the last name. |
| Custom field mappings | One selector per MailerPress custom field. Choose the form field to save in it, or leave it empty. Accept, captcha and file fields cannot be used. |
| Require a consent field | Turn it on for mixed-purpose forms. The contact is only sent to MailerPress when the selected field is checked. |
| Consent field | Shown when the previous option is on. Choose an Accept or Checkbox field of your form. |
| Always require email confirmation | On: new and re-subscribing contacts stay pending until they click the link in the confirmation email. Off: MailerPress uses the global sign-up confirmation setting (the help text shows whether it is enabled). |
What happens on submission
- A new contact is created, or the existing contact with the same email is updated with the selected lists, tags and fields.
- A contact who is already subscribed stays Subscribed. Other contacts become Pending (and receive the confirmation email) or Subscribed, depending on the confirmation setting. See Enable sign-up confirmation (double opt-in).
- If a consent field is required and the visitor leaves it unchecked, the form is still submitted and your other actions run, but no contact is added to MailerPress.
- The contact’s opt-in source is
kadence_form. - If MailerPress cannot save the contact, the submission fails and the visitor sees “We could not process your subscription. Please try again.” This happens, for example, when the selected list no longer exists, or when the contact is marked as bounced (their address could not receive emails) or as a complaint (they reported an email as spam).
Messages in the MailerPress panel
- “Create at least one MailerPress list before enabling this action.”: there is no list in MailerPress yet.
- “Select at least one list because no default MailerPress list is configured.”: select a list, or set a default list in MailerPress.
- “Add an Email field to the Kadence form before using MailerPress.”: add an Email field, then select it in Email field.
- “This configuration references a list or form field that no longer exists. Update the mapping before publishing.”: a list or a mapped field was deleted. Select another one.
- “Some optional tags or custom fields no longer exist and will be ignored.”: remove or replace them if needed.
If MailerPress Pro is deactivated while a form still uses the MailerPress action, the submission is blocked with “This form integration is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.” Reactivate MailerPress Pro, or remove the action from the form.
