The MailerPress Tools page

The MailerPress > Tools page gathers maintenance tasks: moving your data from another newsletter tool, copying your settings to another site, repairing the database and, with MailerPress Pro, choosing which WordPress roles can access MailerPress. Only users who can manage MailerPress settings can open it (administrators by default).

Migrations

The Migration Center (added in MailerPress 2.1) opens by default when you open Tools. Use the Migration source type switch to choose between Plugins (installed on this site) and Platforms (online email services). Click Refresh to detect sources again.

From a WordPress plugin (MailerPress free)

Under Installed plugins, MailerPress imports data from newsletter plugins on the same site. The source plugin must be installed and active.

  • MailPoet: lists, tags, custom fields and contacts (with their lists, tags and custom field values).
  • Newsletter: lists, custom fields and contacts.

Campaigns, templates, forms and statistics are detected but not imported.

From an email platform (MailerPress Pro)

Migrating from an external email platform requires MailerPress Pro.

Under Email platforms, MailerPress imports contacts from your Mailchimp, Brevo, MailerLite, SendGrid, Mailjet, Resend or Emailit account. It brings their lists (called audiences, groups or segments depending on the platform), tags where available, and custom fields.

  • If the platform is not connected yet, click its Connect button (for example Connect Brevo) and paste its API key, the access code you create in your platform account (plus the API secret for Mailjet).
  • If you already send with this service in MailerPress, its credentials are reused.
  • Include unsubscribed contacts also imports contacts who unsubscribed on the platform.

Run a migration

  1. Select the source in Import from plugin or Import from platform.
  2. Under Data to migrate, choose what to import. The number of records is shown for each type.
  3. Click Start migration. A progress bar shows the records imported, skipped and in error. To stop, click Cancel.

The setup wizard offers the same migration when it detects MailPoet or Newsletter data: see How to Install the MailerPress Plugin. To import a CSV file instead, see Import and export contacts.

Export / Import

Saves your MailerPress settings to a JSON file (a text file that MailerPress can read back), or imports a file exported from another site.

  • Settings are grouped by theme (General, Email Delivery, Webhooks, Design & AI). You choose which groups to include.
  • Before an import, MailerPress shows the source site, the plugin version and the export date, and warns you if the version differs.
  • Importing overwrites the selected settings on your site.
  • Some groups contain API keys or passwords: store the file securely.

You can also import a settings file from the first screen of the setup wizard, with Import file. See Export and Import Settings.

Database Repair

MailerPress stores its data in its own database tables. When you open this tab, it checks them and shows the General Status (Healthy or Issues Detected), the Migration Status of the database structure and any Detected Issues (missing parts of the structure, such as columns or indexes). Available actions:

  • Repair Database: fixes the detected issues once you confirm with Yes, Repair Database. The button is disabled when the database is healthy. Back up your database first: the repair changes its structure and cannot be undone.
  • Refresh Diagnostic: runs the check again.
  • Export Full Report: downloads the results as a JSON file, useful for a support request.

See Repair your MailerPress database.

Access Control (MailerPress Pro)

Access Control requires MailerPress Pro 2.1 or later. The tab is visible only to administrators (users who can both manage options and promote users).

Choose which MailerPress areas each WordPress role (Editor, Author, Shop managerโ€ฆ) can access, without an extra plugin.

  1. For each role, turn permissions on or off one by one, or use Enable all and Clear for a group. Permissions marked Protected cannot be removed.
  2. Click Save settings. To go back to the default access, click Restore all defaults.
  3. Users must reload MailerPress for their new access to apply.

On a multisite network, changes apply to the current site only. For the list of MailerPress permissions, see MailerPress capabilities.
