Import Emailit contacts into MailerPress

Use the Migration Center to import Emailit contacts into MailerPress, with their audiences and custom fields. It is a one-time import: later changes in Emailit are not synced.

Importing from Emailit requires MailerPress Pro. You need MailerPress and MailerPress Pro 2.1.0 or later.

Before you start

  • Create an API key in the API keys settings of your Emailit account.
  • Emailit is already your sending service in MailerPress? Its saved credentials are reused and unsubscribed contacts are skipped.
  • Back up your database, or test the import on a staging site first.
  • Pause automations that start with the Contact Subscribed trigger if imported contacts should not enter them.
  • Import only contacts who agreed to receive your emails.

Import your contacts

  1. Go to MailerPress > Tools > Migrations.
  2. Select Platforms.
  3. In Import from platform, choose Emailit.
  4. In Connect Emailit, paste your key in API key.
  5. Optional: check Include unsubscribed contacts to also import contacts unsubscribed from Emailit or from an audience.
  6. Click Save API key.
  7. Under Data to migrate, keep Lists, Custom fields and Contacts checked.
  8. Click Start migration.
  9. Wait for Migration completed. You can leave the page in the meantime.

If Emailit is already connected, the Connect Emailit form does not appear: skip steps 4 to 6.

The Custom fields count is based on your first 100 contacts. Fields found on other contacts are created during the import.

Cancel stops a running migration. Records already imported stay in MailerPress.

Contact statuses

EmailitMailerPress
Subscribed contactSubscribed
Unsubscribed contactSkipped. Unsubscribed if you checked Include unsubscribed contacts.
Unsubscribed from an audienceNot added to that list. Added if you checked Include unsubscribed contacts.
  • A contact unsubscribed from all its audiences, but not from Emailit, is imported as Subscribed into your default list.
  • An existing contact with the same email gets the Emailit status. An unsubscribed contact can become Subscribed again.
  • No contact is imported as Pending, so no confirmation email is sent.
  • Automations with the Contact Subscribed trigger can start for imported contacts.

After the import

  • Check the processed, skipped and error counts.
  • Open a few contacts and check their status, lists, names and custom field values.
  • Check the field types in your contact fields.
  • Contacts imported without an audience are in your default list: check it.
  • Reactivate the automations you paused.
  • To bring in later Emailit changes, run the migration again. Contacts are matched by email, without duplicates.

To keep sending your emails through Emailit, set it up as your sending service: see Send your campaigns with Emailit in MailerPress and the Emailit integration page. Sending with Emailit requires MailerPress Pro 2.1.3 or later.
