The Styles tab of the email editor sets the default look of your emails: fonts and colors of text, links, headings and buttons, the background color and the content width. Set them once to match your brand instead of styling every block. Global styles are included in the free MailerPress plugin.
Open the global styles
In the email editor, open the Styles tab of the right sidebar. It shows a preview of the active style and these sections: Browse styles (only with some themes, see below), Typography, Colors, Background and Layout.
Block settings always win: if you set a font or a color on a block in its Block tab, that block keeps your choice.
Typography
- Elements: click Text, Links, Headings or Buttons to set its default font, size, weight and other text settings.
- Fonts: the fonts used by your global styles. Manage fonts opens the font manager, where you install Google Fonts (see How to Use Google Fonts in an Email Campaign).
- Typesets: font combinations from your theme, shown only if your theme provides them.
Colors
Under Colors > Elements, set the default text color of Text, Links and Headings, and the text and background colors of Buttons.
Every color picker of the editor offers up to three palettes: Recently used, Theme colors (your themeโs color palette, if it has one) and Email colors (the colors already used in the email).
Background and layout
- Background: the color displayed around the email content.
- Layout: the Content width, the maximum width of the email, from 400 to 1024 pixels (600 by default).
Use your theme styles
If your site uses a block theme (a theme you customize in Appearance > Editor), MailerPress reuses its styles. When the theme offers style variations (alternative looks), Browse styles appears in the Styles tab:
- Click a style at the top to use it for your emails.
- Under Color variations, click a palette to change only the colors.
- Under Typography, click a font pairing to change only the fonts.
With a classic theme, MailerPress uses its own neutral default style and Browse styles is not displayed.
What applies to all your emails
Typography and element colors are saved for your whole site: they apply to every email you edit with the MailerPress editor. The background color and the content width are saved with the current email only.
Send yourself a test email before sending, especially if you use Google Fonts: some email apps replace them with a standard font.
